The hard-earned success of his first album, ‘Dherai Taka Chautarima’, gave Jems Pradhan the courage to overcome unprecedented challenges in Nepali music. After further exploring the Nepali music scene, his second, ‘Bhaigo Uni Jaun’ which presented a harmony between sarangi and guitar, helped Pradhan establish his mark in the industry.
A household name for the past two decades, James Pradhan is back after a gap of 7 years, with his latest ‘Kram’. The playlist is currently garnering appreciations from music lovers.
In conversation with My City’s Sonam Lama, Jems Pradhan revealed his five lesser-known facts.
Off road-traveller
To take a breather from work, he likes to travel and cycle to off-road to places across the country. However, he opts going for long drives, if the roads are safe for driving. He recently traveled to Chitwan to perform at a concert for charity.
“Of all the places I have visited in 2018, Gosaikunda has been the most memorable travel,” said Pradhan.
Keen Photographer
Affiliated with his uncle’s production house, he started as a videographer/photographer at 13. He ensures that he is equipped with all essential camera gears whenever he sets out for travels. “The art of expressing yourself through pictures is quite amazing. My photography is a compilation of spontaneous moments that I have explored so far in my journey,” he shared.
Into movie making
He put his hands into movie making after witnessing the revolution of the digitization era. His first step into the cinema realm came with a short film entitled ‘fortune teller’. Filmmaking for him is a powerful tool to connect with his audience. He believes that the hype that social media helps create is an ideal medium to stay in contact with his
admirers.
Fitness conscious
There was a phase in his life where he yearned to have six-pack abs. However, his priority at present has shifted to adapting to a healthy lifestyle depending on nutritious food and work out habits. For him, staying fit and healthy is an inescapable part of his living. Although a foodie at heart, he makes sure that he hits the gym on a regular basis.
Experimental cook
He loves experimenting with his food. He claims to have mastered the culinary skills of preparing Newari delicacies. The musician also takes pleasure in cooking Italian cuisines, including pizza and pasta. He lately is stuck with food as per his diet chart. Although his diet plans have somewhat restricted him from binge eating, he loves to cook for his family and friends. “I enjoy cooking lasagna,” he added.
