Bagmati Province Minister without Portfolio Rama Alemgar takes oath of office and secrecy

HETAUDA, April 2: Rama Ale Magar, who was appointed a Minister without Portfolio from the CPN (Unified Socialist) in Bagmati Province, has taken the oath of office and secrecy.

Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma administered the oath to her on Tuesday morning.

Chief Minister Shalikram Jamakattel appointed Magar as a minister on Monday. Ale Magar said that the Chief Minister has promised her to provide ministerial responsibilities within seven days.

Ale Magar is the only woman provincial assembly member elected directly from the CPN (Unified Socialist). She won from Kathmandu Constituency-10 (2) and previously served as a member in the first term of the provincial assembly.

In Bagmati Province, ministers are yet to be appointed to four ministries. A provincial assembly member indicated that efforts are underway on Tuesday to finalize the allocation of portfolios between the Unified Socialist Party and the UML in those ministries. UML has claimed 5 out of 6 ministries vacated by the Nepali Congress.

Jagannath Thapalia, the UML parliamentary party leader, was appointed as Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning on March 27. Shailendraman Bajracharya of the Hamro Nepali Party assumed office as the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Cooperatives on March 28, among the 6 vacant ministries.

Of the 12 ministries in the Bagmati Province government, the Maoist Center has secured the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, and the Ministry of Social Development, along with the Chief Minister. Ganga Narayan Shrestha is the Minister of Internal Affairs, Yubraj Dulal is the Minister of Physical Infrastructure, and Kumari Muktan is the Minister of Social Development.

Chief Minister Jamkattel has retained the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Land Administration, the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Ministry of Water, Energy, and Irrigation, and the Ministry of Health.
