BARA, April 3: Dr Govinda KC, who is known for his unrelenting struggle for reform in medical education, has arrived in Bara district—one of the two tarai districts battered by Sunday's storm – to provide treatment to the injured and distribute relief material to other victims.
Dr KC arrived in Bara on Tuesday after cancelling a trip to Mozambique, where thousands are facing a cholera epidemic .
Dr KC treated those affected by the storm and also distributed some relief materials in Purainiya and Bharbaliya. He treated around 150 victims and distributed clothes.
Those receiving treatment included Ward Number 6 Chairman of Pheta Rural Municipality Jakir Hussain. Dr KC said most people in the affected villages had lost their homes and have no proper medical treatment.
A total of 27 people lost their lives in Bara alone. Over 600 others were injured, according to police.
