KATHMANDU, May 10: The government has recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to prorogue the Special Session of the House of Representatives (HoR) effective from midnight today.

A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar on Monday evening shortly after Prime Minister K P Oli failed to win a vote of confidence motion in parliament made a decision to this effect.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari had summoned the Special Session of the HoR for Monday at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli to seek a vote of confidence from parliament. Sources said the cabinet decided to prorogue the Special Session of parliament since the purpose for which the session was called ended on Monday itself.
