Israeli women delegation in Kathmandu to explore business opportunities

KATHMANDU, May 29: A delegation of Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce arrived in Kathmandu to explore business opportunities in Nepal.

The delegation led by Anat Bernstein-Reich, President, Israel-Asia and Chairperson of Israel-India Chamber of Commerce, held a meeting with the President of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN) Shova Gyawali. The Israeli business delegation expressed readiness to collaborate with women entrepreneurs in Nepal on agriculture and bringing Israeli technology to Nepal.

"Our business women delegation came to explore business opportunities in Nepal. Meeting FWEAN was so inspiring. When women meet we speak the same language," President Gyawali quoted President Anat Bernstein-Reich as saying. "We understand each other because no matter where are from, we face similar challenges."

President Berstein-Reich also announced to soon initiate a webinar about agriculture and take Israeli technologies to Nepali soil.

The Israeli delegation comprising 18 women entrepreneurs arrived in Nepal for a two-day visit at the invitation of the FWEAN.  The delegation openly praised the participation of Nepali women in the fields of politics and industry.

In a meeting with Nepali women entrepreneurs, President Bernstein-Rich said that 33 percent of women's participation in Nepal's politics is an example for the world. According to FWEAN President Gyawali, president of FWEAN, President Bernstein-Rich said that although women's participation in education, employment, business, and industry is significant in Israel, it is a matter of concern that only 10 percent of women participate in politics. She said that she is trying to increase women's participation in politics as well.

In the meeting with the Israeli delegation, Nepali women entrepreneurs received information about various things, including technical assistance, training programs, investment opportunities, and exchange programs, according to President Gyawali. Mentioning that both sides have agreed to cooperate for mutual aid and mutual benefit, she said that Israel's modern agricultural system and innovative strategy in the field of tourism are exemplary for Nepal.

The Israeli delegation said that there is a need to conduct workshops and training sessions to empower Nepali women entrepreneurs with the latest skills and knowledge. During the visit, they emphasized the need for advanced modern agricultural systems, investment in the fields of agriculture and tourism, mutual learning, and cultural exchange.

In response, Chairperson Gyawali said that Nepali women entrepreneurs are ready to discuss possible opportunities to collaborate with Israel. "We believe there are numerous avenues where Nepal and Israel can collaborate. "We are eager to learn from Israel's advanced agricultural technologies and innovative tourism strategies. Your expertise in these areas can significantly enhance  our initiative and help us achieve sustainable growth," she said.

Gyawali further mentioned that FWEAN is mainly interested in technical assistance, training programs, investment opportunities and exchange programs.
