Left Alliance, FSFN likely to strike deal on statute amendment

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Left Alliance and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have held a discussion on constitution amendment and participation in the newly formed government. The meeting of the second-line leaders of the alliance and FSFN held on Tuesday held the discussion regarding the constitution amendment, the condition put forward by the Forum to participate in the KP Sharma Oli-led government.

CPN-UML leader Subash Nembang said that the meeting was fruitful regarding the fulfillment of the demand presented by the FSFN to join the government. “Agreement is likely between two sides by Wednesday”, informed Nembang. He added that the left alliance agreed to amend the constitution addressing the relevant demand following which FSFN is ready to be a part of the government.

According to Rajendra Shrestha of FSFN, once they reach the conclusion, the second-line leaders will prepare a draft of the agreement between two parties. They (Left Alliance) are positive towards our demand. They have asked for more discussion within their parties. Hopefully, we will reach the conclusion very soon, “said Shrestha.

Prior to this meeting, top leaders from each party, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Upendra Yadav have already conducted one-on-one meeting twice over the issue.
