My tenure has seen much progress in judiciary: CJ

KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli claimed on Monday that his tenure at the apex court has seen much progress in the judiciary.

Parajuli was addressing a function organized by Child Reform Home Sanothimi on Monday.

Stating that he was able to enact the new Supreme Court Rules, Parajuli said that based on these, the  justices have worked additional hours to achieve significant progress in cases. He also claimed that he was able to bring into operation the constitutional bench which had been unable to function for the last one and half years. 
He was able to settle cases relating to children, senior citizens and the disabled because he has been giving special priority to such cases, he added.

 He, however, claimed that some individuals who did not want to see good work being done at the judiciary have been showing such progress in a bad light and creating confusion in  society.

 Stating that media and the judiciary have  to work toward the truth, Parajuli  added that  society cannot develop if either is  eliminated.  

 The judiciary and the media have their separate working styles, he said and underlined the need for  working on the basis of truth and according to special situations.

 Supreme Court Justice Sharada Prasad Ghimire, who is  chairman of the Juvenile Justice Coordination Committee, underlined the need for timely reforms at the child reform home and  for modernizing the judicial system. Justice delivery may not always be as per one's wish, he said. 
The reform home has been working for children involved in delinquency and  providing them education.
