KATHMANDU, Feb 1: A group of cadres of the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) vandalized a vehicle in which Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel was journeying toward Nuwakot district to attend a function organization by the NCP's Oli-led faction.

The incident took place when the cadres of the rival factions of the NCP clashed in Nuwakot. Cadres of the rival Dahal-Nepal faction also showed black flags to Minister Pokharel, who is also a key leader of the Oli-led faction.

Clashes have taken place between the rival factions of the NCP at various places across the country after the ruling party witnessed a vertical split owing to factional feuds.

The rival factions are also at loggerheads over Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's decision to dissolve parliament and announce midterm elections on December 20, last year.
