PM calls meeting to find ways to improve Nepal’s economy

KATHMANDU, Nov  20: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is taking steps to improve the country's economy by creating a special group to address its issues. He is meeting with government officials from departments like the Ministry of Finance and Nepal Rastra Bank today at 4 PM to discuss ways to improve the economy.

According to the PM’s Press Adviser Govinda Acharya, the meeting aims to assess the current state of the economy and brainstorm ways to make it better. PM Dahal has been actively engaging with various agencies to ensure a sustainable economy. Despite some positive signs, people in the market, including consumers, industrialists, and businessmen, haven't felt these improvements.

In a recent economic debate organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Prime Minister Dahal pledged to create a special task force to tackle the economic issues facing  the country. Additionally, the FNCCI, seeking solutions to the economic crisis, is collecting suggestions from its members as part of a national economic discussion.

Following the Federation's executive meeting, a national economic debate involving all stakeholders took place on October 12. During this meeting in Kathmandu, FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal urged the government to form a high-level group led by the Prime Minister. In response, PM Dahal committed to establishing this mechanism as proposed by the Federation.

The Federation has now circulated a request for input and consultations with the District Chambers of Commerce and Industry. They seek insights into the present business climate and suggestions for future steps to address the economic challenges facing the country.
