SURKHET, Jan 4: Six individuals, including Nagendra Saud, the head of examination management, have been suspended on charges of leaking question papers from Mid-West University (MU). The question papers were leaked before the scheduled examination for the design of structure subject in the sixth semester of the graduate school of engineering.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Nanda Bahadur Singh, said that the examination, originally slated for December 19, was canceled following the leaking of the question paper.
"We observed wrongdoing within the examination administration when the question papers were leaked,” stated Vice-Chancellor Singh, “Now, an investigation is underway, and we have suspended six individuals, including the head of examination administration.”
Vice-Chancellor Singh further mentioned that new individuals have assumed responsibility, and the rescheduled examination will take place soon.
“This is an old practice of leaking question papers to aid students in passing exams. Given that this matter concerns the university's honor, we will take action against those engaged in such activities,” he said.
Vice-Chancellor Singh added that the leaked question paper arrived on his mobile phone on the evening of December 18, prior to the scheduled exam. “I had already received information about students passing exams through leaked question papers. Later, I mobilized a team. The question paper reached my mobile at 6:41 PM on December 18,” Singh explained, “I waited until the next day's exam, and upon confirming the authenticity of the leaked question paper, I immediately ordered the exam to be halted.”
Various professors' organizations have accused Vice-Chancellor Singh of being weak. Five different professors' associations are demanding an investigation by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and the district administration to ensure a fair examination, citing a serious error on the part of the vice-chancellor in handling this matter.
