11th COVID-19 patient recovers, 38 active cases now

BAGLUNG, April 25: Coronavirus infected 19-year-old girl from Baglung was discharged after her swab samples tested negative for the deadly disease in the fifth and sixth tests. Earlier, four tests to COVID-19 were reported positive.

BAGLUNG, April 25: A 19-year-old girl from Baglung who was infected with the coronavirus and was undergoing treatment at Dhaulagiri Hospital has been discharged after her swab samples tested negative for the deadly virus in the fifth and sixth tests. 


According to the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Shailendra B Pokhrel, she was discharged on Friday  after her reports came in the late evening. Escorted by police, she was taken home in an ambulance.

The Belgium-returnee girl had arrived in Nepal via the Qatar Airways’ QR 652 flight on March 17. She was diagnosed with COVID-19 later on March 28. She was the fifth confirmed COVID-19 case in Nepal. The patient hails from Baglung Municipality-4, Kudule. 


Earlier, a 65-year-old woman from Baglung Municipality-3, Gaudakot, was also discharged from the same hospital after she was cured. 


With this, a total of 11 COVID-19 patients have recovered in the country. There are still 38 active cases in the country. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, one person in Dhangadi, five in Birgunj, two in Bharatpur and 30 in Biratnagar are receiving treatment for the disease. They all are doing well, according to Dr Bikash Devkota, spokesperson for the ministry.


 No death due to COVID-19 has been reported in the country so far.
