KATHMANDU, September 7: Around 80 delegates comprising women entrepreneurs from 80 countries will convene in Kathmandu for the Across Barriers-International Business Women's Summit on coming September 11.
The two-day event is being organized by the South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) with financial support from the Ministry of Agriculture, US Embassy in Nepal, the DFID, UK among others.
At a press conference organized here today, SAWDF President Pramila Acharya Rijal shared that the first-of-its-kind event aims to develop partnerships among women entrepreneurs from the SAARC regions besides ASEAN region and China.

International delegates, including 10 from China, and some 70 women entrepreneurs from various parts of country will be exchanging their knowledge, skills and their experience mainly of their ventures in tourism, agriculture, IT and Textile sectors, according to President Rijal.
Vice President Yankila Sherpa expressed her confidence that the summit would provide a platform for the small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) across the country and SAARC and ASEAN countries for exploring new opportunities in cooperation and joint investments with potential counterparts.
"The event also aims to encourage women entrepreneurs to scale up their business by incorporating technology in their enterprises," explained Sherpa.
Locally manufactured goods will be put on display for sample testing, aimed to promote local products to international markets, shared Shanta Chadda, also Vice-President of SAWDF.
A total of 13 business leaders from various countries including Philippines, Malaysia and China, will be sharing their experiences with entrepreneurs—emerging and established alike— so as to stir and steer them for upgrading themselves to becoming medium scale entrepreneurs, added Chadda.RSS
