Health ministry directs hospitals across the country to remain prepared
KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged hospitals across the country to prepare themselves for another possible wave of COVID-19 infection. Issuing a press release on Friday, the health ministry said that the country has recorded as many as 24 cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and has directed everyone to follow the safety protocols.
Nepal detects first two cases of Omicron variant of COVID-19
Among the 1143 positive cases of COVID-19 recorded in the Nepali month of Poush, 250 samples reported S-Gene negative (SGTF). Following a gene-sequencing test conducted on the 250 samples, 24 samples tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
The health ministry has urged all hospitals and health workers to prepare themselves by keeping the surge of infections in mind and to keep a stockpile of medical oxygen and other health supplies, citing the risk of an infection spike. The health ministry has requested everyone to wear masks and to follow the safety protocols and keep a safe distance from others while going out.
