3X3 basketball from Tuesday

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Ruslan 3X3 NeBA President Cup Basketball tournament will begin from Tuesday at the Dasharath Stadium Covered Hall in Tripureshwar.



Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, organizer Periwinkle Trade and Service informed that they are expecting participation of 24 teams in the men's section and 12 in women's section in the tournament. According to Periwinkle CEO Dipesh Ghale, they have also invited teams from Pokhara, Dharan, Chitwan and Butwal besides the capital city. “We have already got confirmation of 13 teams' participation in men's section,” Ghale said.



The five-day tournament to be played in double eliminator format will carry a total cash prize of Rs 290,000.  The top three finishers in men's section will become richer by Rs 100,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000. Similarly, the winner and runner-up in women's section will walk home with Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.  The most valuable players of men's and women's sections will get Rs 25,000 and 15,000 respectively. 



The registration fee of the tournament is fixed at Rs 6,000 for men's and Rs 3,000 for women's sections. However, the teams taking part from outside the valley will not be charged entry fees.



Golden Gate College and Prime College were the winners of the last edition under men's and women's sections respectively.



Ruslan is the chief sponsor of the tournament and it will provide all cash reward. Nepal Basketball Association will look after the technical part of the tournament. The estimated budget of the tournament is Rs 400,000.
