GALESHWOR, Dec 21: As much as 85 percent works related to the blacktopping and upgrading of the Jomsom-Korala road section and 65 percent of the Beni-Jomsom section have been completed so far. The Beni-Jomsom road section is considered the lifeline of Gandaki Province.
Chief of Beni-Jomsom road section, Jagat Prajapati, said that the upgrading work of the Beni-Jomsom road in order to operate vehicles regularly even in the rainy season has been completed.
He said that motorable bridges are being constructed by replacing the Bailey bridges along the Beni—Jomsom-Korala road section.
Road construction moving at snail’s pace
Prajapati also said that along with the upgrading of the road section, eight motorable bridges have been constructed for the regular and smooth operation of vehicular movement. The Beni-Jomsom-Korala road section is a project of national pride.
"We have been constructing motorable bridges replacing Bailey bridges. We have proposed the construction of more bridges as per the need," he shared.
Some bridges are under construction over different big and tributary rivers of Myagdi and Mustang along the road section and it has become easier for the road users after the construction of the bridges.
A 40 meters long bridge has been constructed over the Rahughat rivulet, 40 meters long bridge over the Ghatte rivulet of Myagdi and a 115 meters long bridge over the Syang rivulet and a 50 meters long bridge over the Panda rivulet of Mustang, according to Prajapati.
Similarly, a 70 meters long and 80 meters long bridges have been constructed at Mahabhir of Annapurna Rural Municipality and Kaligandakai of Pokhar Bagar of Myagdi respectively.
