An interaction program on ‘GESI Recommendation on Umbrella Act for National Mass Communication’ was held at Yak Palace, Lalitpur on Tuesday. The event jointly organized by Media Advocacy Group and Samjhauta Nepal aimed at focusing the importance of addressing GESI (Gender Equality and Society Inclusion) policies in the soon-to-be formulated Umbrella Act for National Mass Communication.
The event saw the participation of representatives, especially from the media and civil society. GESI Consultant Sushmita Lama showcased a presentation reflecting the concept of GESI, its importance, and challenges.

Speaking in the interaction event, Lama stated, “As GESI policies advocate for equal right, opportunity, and an inclusive participation to further encourage transparency in media, it is important to be properly addressed in the media.”
Further highlighting the importance of GESI policies, President of MAG, Babita Basnet, said, “It is due to the urging need of GESI policies in the umbrella Act that we have organized an interaction event to educate and aware the concerned bodies, media, and civil society organizations. We hope such programs will help disseminate the information to a larger number of people.”
