KATHMANDU, Feb 13: The 2nd Nepal Agritech International Expo 2018 is being organized in Kathmandu in the second week of February with the objective of educating farmers about modern agricultural technologies.
Media Space Solutions Pvt Ltd in association with Futurex Trade Fair and Events, India, is organizing the event from February 15 to 18, the organizers said organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Monday.
The first edition of the expo was organized in 2017.
The expo will showcase farm machinery, dairy, poultry, livestock, floriculture, farm equipment and technologies, among others.
Mahindra showcases farming solutions at Nepal AgriTech
Speaking at the program, Moushumi Shrestha, a representative of Shree Kisan Innovation Hub, said that the expo can be a good platform for farmers to gain knowledge about innovative technology for agriculture. “Farmers in Nepal are doing day to day farming for daily bread,” Shrestha said, adding: “This event will help to encourage farmers to grow their farming from day to day to for prosperity.”
To educate farmers about agricultural prosperity, Shree Kisan Innovative Hubs is organizing Agri Symposium on February 16 and 17, she added.
According to Shrestha, the session will cover agro issues under titles like climate-smart agriculture, goats for growth, prosperous farmer nation's pride and innovative technologies for farmers. “The session is being organized to raise awareness among farmers about modern-day agriculture trends and technologies,” she added.
Similarly, Nagendra Kumar Dubedi, representative from Sonalika International -- a tractor manufacturing company of India, said that Nepali agricultural sector requires mechanization in order to grow more. “We have varied tractors to meet the requirement of all regions of Nepal, be it hilly or tarai plains,” Dubedi added.
Agri Mart is also being organized on the sidelines of the expo. According to the organizers, farmers can showcase their agro produces at the mart.
The expo will have 120 exhibitors from more than 11 countries including Nepal, India, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Italy, Israel, Bangladesh, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, among others.
Prime Minister Agricultural Modernization Project is the co-organizer of the event which is sponsored by Sonalika International and co-sponsored by Mahindra Rise and Poshak.
Srijal Bhattarai, managing director of Media Space Solutions Pvt Ltd, said that the organizers have the plan to take the event out of the Kathmandu Valley so that it can benefit more farmers.
