KATHMANDU, August 14: Bhola Man Singh Basnet, an agronomist and a popular paddy expert at Nepal Agricultural Research Council, passed away on Saturday morning. Basnet succumbed to COVID-19.

After suffering from the novel coronavirus disease, Basnet was admitted to Om Hospital, Chabahil, on July 31. His health started deteriorating from the wee hours of Saturday. He breathed his last at 6:35AM on Saturday, according to his family sources.
Basnet, a Principal Scientist of Agronomy, is popularly known for his research of rice variants in Nepal. He held over five decades of professional experience in agriculture research and development.
