KATHMANDU, April 26: Supreme Court has denied issuing an interim order to stop Chairman K P Oli from taking action against lawmakers close to Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the CPN-UML.

A single bench of justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana denied issuing the interim order as demanded by the petitioners arguing that there was no need to issue the order as the UML Chairman had not yet taken action against them.

On April 19, UML Chairman and the party's parliamentary leader Oli had sought clarification from 27 lawmakers of the federal parliament close to the Nepal-led faction, asking why should they be not relieved from the position of lawmaker. Four of them had knocked the doors of the apex court demanding an interim order against the possible action Oli could take against them.

The apex court has demanded written clarification from the Election Commission, K P Oli and others who were made defendants in the case. The court, however, has decided to keep the case in the priority arguing that this kind of issue needs to be resolved at the earliest.

Chairman Oli had sought clarification from 27 UML lawmakers fearing that they could choose to cross the floor  in the parlimament in the no-confidence motion that is likely to be introduced by the opposition parties.
