KATHMANDU, July 7: Arrest warrants have been issued against four former government secretaries for their alleged involvement in the embezzlement of Lalita Niwas land in Baluwatar.
Nepal Police Spokesperson DIG Kuber Kadayat said that an arrest warrant has been issued against the then Secretary Deep Basnyat, Chhabi Raj Pant, Dinesh Hari Adhikari and Narayan Gopal Malego for their alleged involvement in the transfer of the ownership of government land of Lalita Niwas to individuals.

According to him, former joint secretary Sudhir Shah has been arrested, while Deep Basnyat, who is also a former chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), is absconding.
In the Lalita Niwas case, the police have obtained arrest warrants from the court against four former secretaries. The police have again started an investigation into the sale and purchase of 114 ropanis of land of Lalita Niwas.
