KATHMANDU, March 16: TU College and DAV College have advanced into the final of the ongoing Golden Gate University Cricket Cup T20 Tournament on Friday.
In the semifinal matches played at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, TU defeated Cosmos College in super over in the first, while DAV beat Golden Gate International College by 11 runs in the second.
In the first last-four match, TU won the toss and opted to field first limiting Cosmos College for 170 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, TU tied on target of 170 runs for the loss of eight wickets after the completion of 20 overs.

Cosmos opener Amit Shrestha made 60 runs off 44 balls which included seven boundaries and two sixes, while Sandeep Jora contributed with unbeaten 57 runs off 30 balls including four boundaries and four sixes. For TU, Sagar Dhakal picked three wickets, while Kshitiz Singh claimed a wicket.
Player-of-the-match Subhash Khakurel inspired TU scoring 76 runs off 52 balls comprising of eight fours and three sixes, while Prithu Baskota added 30 runs off 26 balls including three fours and a six to take the match to super over. For Cosmos, Dipesh Shrestha, Kamal Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Yogendra Singh Karki and Sandeep Jora nicked a wicket each.
In the super over, TU mustered a target of 18 runs as Khakurel hit seven runs and Sonu Tamang added 11 runs in the over which was bowled by Cosmos’ Dipesh Shrestha. In reply, Cosmos failed to chase the target and made only 10 runs comprising of seven runs from Jora and Kushal Bhurtal’s one. They was a wide and a no ball in the over bowled by Ishan Pandey but he managed to defend the score.
In the other match played on the same day, DAV won the toss and elected to bat first and set a target of 121 runs for the loss of all its wickets in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, Golden Gate could only get 109 runs in the allotted 20 overs at cost of eight wickets.
Aadil Khan made 27 runs off 25 balls including a boundary and a six, while Sumit Maharjan hit 22 runs off 14 balls comprising of four boundaries for the winning team. For Golden Gate, Santosh Bhatta picked three wickets and Rashid Khan claimed two.
In reply, Golden Gate’s Naresh Budhayer scored 37 runs off 26 balls including six boundaries, while Bhupendra Thapa hit 27 runs off 27 balls with three fours. DAV’s Aadil Khan also claimed three wickets, while Nandan Yadav, Shankar Poudel and Sumit Jha nicked a wicket each. Khan was named the player-of-the-match.
The final between the TU and DAV will be played on Saturday at the TU cricket ground.
