Balen Shah and Sunita Dangol leading as vote counting continues for the third day

KATHMANDU, May 15: The mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah continues to lead as the vote counting continues for the third consecutive day.

KATHMANDU, May 15: The mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balen Shah continues to lead as the vote counting continues for the third consecutive day. 


Independent Candidate Shah has not allowed anyone to push back as the vote counting began on Saturday. According to the latest updates, Balen is leading with 6,486 votes. His nearest rival Keshav Sthapit of CPN-UML is following him with only 3,413 votes.

Looking at the gap of votes between the two, it is visible that Balen will lead in today's vote counting as well.


Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Sirjana Singh, who contested for the post of mayor from the ruling coalition, is slowly moving to the third place. She has received 3,009 votes so far. Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate Madan Das Shrestha has so far received 421 votes 


Similarly, Sunita Dangol of CPN-UML has been taking the lead in the post of Deputy Mayor from the very beginning. According to the latest tally on Monday morning, Sunita has received 3,384 votes, while her nearest rival Rameshwar Shrestha of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has received 992 votes. 


Two other candidates for Deputy Mayors Binita Magaiya of RPP and Kriti Tuladhar have received 760 votes and 157 votes, respectively.
