Basic health care service to be free: DPM Yadav

KATHMANDU, July 28: Nepal-China Himalaya Friendship Society has provided ambulances to the municipalities and health centres of five districts in order to ensure accessibility of the rural people in the health care services.

KATHMANDU, July 28: Nepal-China Himalaya Friendship Society has provided ambulances to the municipalities and health centres of five districts in order to ensure accessibility of the rural people in the health care services. 


The ambulances, purchased with support from the Embassy of China in Nepal, were provided to the Mandan Deupur Municipality of Kavre, Jugal Rural Municipality of Sindhupalchowk, Bhimeshwor Municipality of Dolakha, Khandbari Municipality of Sankhuwasabha and Nibuwatari Cooperative Health Centre in Madhya Nepal Municipality of Lamjung district. 


At a programme organized by the Society here Saturday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population handed over the separate bunches of keys to the chiefs of concerned bodies on the presence of Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong.

On the occasion, DPM Yadav said that China's contribution was crucial in development of Nepal's road network, hydropower, agriculture, education, health and other areas of infrastructure. He hoped that the ambulances would be useful to those people having poor access to health centre and hospitals. 


The DPM said that the government was working with the target to provide basic health care services to all for free adding that processes have been proceeded to build 1,200 basic health care centres this year. 

According to Yadav, the local level would take responsibility of 15-bed hospitals while province would take care of district and regional hospitals. Similarly, central hospitals and academies would be kept under the federal government while making policies. 


Also speaking at the programme, Chinese Ambassador Yu said that cooperation and coordination would be increased at the people's level to further advance the bilateral relations. 


Saying that Nepal's northern belt was close to China both geographically and culturally, she stated that the level of cooperation and supports would be made wider in connectivity, roads, railway, hydropower, tourism and other sectors. 


Lawmaker Rajendra Gautam, former minister and chairman of the society Ananda Prasad Pokharel and mayors of the concerned municipalities and officials expressed their commitment to fully utilize the ambulances to cater effective health services to the people.
