Bhujela locals ask NHRC to stop crusher plant

MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 7: Agitating locals of Bhujela, Kanchanpur have appealed to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to halt the operation of a crusher plant on the bank of the Mahakali River.

MAHENDRANAGAR, Jan 7: Agitating locals of Bhujela, Kanchanpur have appealed to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to halt the operation of a crusher plant on the bank of the Mahakali River. 


Sending a letter to the NHRC through the district administration office, locals have urged the commission to take immediate action to stop the operation saying that it could cause severe environmental and health hazards in the area.

The machine has been operated on the land of Maniram Rawat of Bhujela. Earlier, the locals along with the Ward Citizens Forum had protested against the plant and had even obstructed the roads in Gaddhachauki, Bhujela. Following the protests, the plant had been shut for a while but later they resumed the operation.


More than 228 families had submitted the request letter to the District Administration Office and Bhimdatta Metropolitan City office.
