KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The German Embassy in Kathmandu has unveiled ‘Buddy Bear’ sculpture to mark the 55 year long bilateral relationship between Germany and Nepal.

Designed by artist Doris Zacheres the life-size bear statue has German and Nepali national symbols along with other Mithila art forms painted on it. She has applied crimson red color of the Nepali national flag and red, black and yellow colors of the German national flag as the theme colors in the paintings.

“It is a testimony to our 55 year long friendship. Our effort will be to promote cultural relation between both countries,” said Matthias Meyer, the German Ambassador to Nepal.

All over the world there are 1430 Buddy Bear statues that act as mascots of friendship and optimism.
