Children from Kumal community engage in agricultural activities

GULMI, July 9: Children in Kumal community in Gulmi district have been reduced to getting involved in agricultural activities that are supposed to be carried out by adults.

GULMI, July 9: Children in Kumal community in Gulmi district have been reduced to getting involved in agricultural activities that are supposed to be carried out by adults.


As many as 200 students study in Kumari Lower Secondary School based in Isma Rural Muncipality -5 of Gulmi district. Students from Kumal Community account for 95 percent of them. Only 25 percent of all the Kumal students are economically self-reliant, said Nil Kantha Bhandari , head teacher at Kumari Lower Secondary School.

Kumal students from the poor family have no other than option than getting involved in agricultural activities either as wage-earner or self-producer.
