The exhibition showcasing goods from China and South Asian countries used to be organized in Kunming of China only.

This event, regarded as a cultural and economic bridge for the region, aims at promoting regional communications, building the regional influence of China-South Asia Expo, expanding presence and influence of businesses of Yunnan's participating administrative division (Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture), and building a larger platform of cooperation and exchanges, according to a press release issued by the Secretariat of China-South Asia Expo.

The expo will have a total exhibition area of 3,300 square meters with 150 standard booths, apart from dedicated pavilions to showcase images and build the brands of participating companies and regions from China and South Asia. Nepali entrepreneurs are also taking part in the expo.

More than 100 Chinese businessmen will be present at the expo.
