Cholera kills over 2000 in Yemen

YEMEN, March 12: Over 2000 people have died of cholera in Yemen over the past year, reports Russian consumer surveillance service (Rospotrebnadzor).

YEMEN, March 12: Over 2000 people have died of cholera in Yemen over the past year, reports Russian consumer surveillance service (Rospotrebnadzor).


"According to the epidemiological bulletin of the World Health Organization 1 063 786 cholera cases have been fixed in Yemen since April 27 2017 until the end of February 2018, 2258 cases have been fatal, lab tests confirmed 1104 cases," reads the reports.

59.3% of fatalities were associated with patients delivered to hospitals in critical condition. 28.8% of cases fell of children aged below 5.


"Within the past three weeks there have been cholera assumption cases in 174 districts of the state. No cases have been fixed in 132 districts of the state over the past three week.


The number of infection cases has been going down. The number of hard cases has lowered to 11%," the message reports.
