Coca Cola Cup from Tuesday

KATHMANDU, July 16: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is set to organize the Coca Cola Inter-school Boys and Girls National Football Tournament from July 18. 


Being organized in coordination with Bottlers Nepal Limited, the tournament will be conducted in three different rounds. In the first round, the competition will be conducted at the district level in 44 districts and the second round which will be regional level will be hosted in Jhapa of Eastern Region, Bhaktapur and Rautahat of Central Region and Kaski of Western Region.

Meanwhile, the regional competition for Mid-western and Far-western Regions will be conducted in Banke. Four schools each from Kathmandu and Lalitpur in both boys’ and girls’ tournaments will be directly selected for the final rounds while three schools each from the Eastern Region will be selected. Likewise, one team each from the Central Region, two teams each from Western Regiona and equal number of the teams from Mid- and Far-western regional will take part in the final rounds. The final round of the tournament will be played in league cum knockout format.  


The winner of the tournament will bag Rs 300,000 while the runner-up and third-placed teams will be awarded with Rs 100,000 and Rs 50, 000 respectively. Likewise, the best player in each position - goalkeeping, defense, midfield, forward - alongside best coach will be rewarded with Rs 5,000 each. The total budget of the tournament will be Rs 11.5 million according to ANFA with Bottlers supporting Rs 5 million and the Ministry for Youth and Sports funding Rs 2 million.    


In the last edition of the tournament, a total of 1,111 schools had participated while ANFA has expected 1,500 schools to participate this time.
