With eye on amendment, PM expands cabinet
“The Madhes-based parties are unhappy over the amendment bill. Similarly, the people of Province 5 are agitated. Some parties have been obstructing the House. Our party, too, thinks that certain provisions in the amendment bill are against national interests,” Thapa said, “So, if the goal is to unlock the current deadlock, then the bill has to be revised and passed through the House.”
He also made it clear that his party will not support it if attempts are made to pass the amendment bill through parliament as it is.
Thapa also demanded from the government to declare the dates for local elections at the earliest. “The country will plunge into a crisis if all three levels of elections – local, provincial and federal – are not held within a year,” he warned.
