KATHMANDU, May 28: Amid preparation of the government to introduce populist budget through ordinance, the main opposition party, Nepali Congress(NC) has cautioned the caretaker government led by K P Oli not to take any decisions that may have far-reaching consequences.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba alleged that Prime Minister K P Oli, who is staying in power against the spirit of the constitution and evading parliamentary process, was taking populist decisions in view of drawing more votes in the upcoming elections. Oli has already announced midterm elections in November after dissolving the parliament.
Deuba govt takes more key decisions
"I caution the government not to take and implement decisions that have far reaching consequences as a case is sub judice in the judiciary about the government itself," Deuba said in a statement on Thursday. He has urged the government leadership to stay away from misusing government machineries and also those part of the government mechanisms to stay away from any such misuse on the part of the caretaker government.
Among other things, Deuba has urged government to introduce relief packages to those badly affected by COVID-19, ensure adequate number of ICU beds, ventilators and other medical supplies, procure COVID-19 vaccines and expand scope of COVID-19 tests across the country.
