Dolpa village in fear as residents show Covid-19 like symptoms

DOLPA, Mar 4: With more than 80 people suffering from common cold and fever in Tripura Sundari Municipality-1 in Dolpa district, the local residents are in a state of panic as the symptoms are similar to that of the deadly COVID-19.

DOLPA, Mar 4: With more than 80 people suffering from common cold and fever in Tripura Sundari Municipality-1 in Dolpa district, the local residents are in a state of panic as the symptoms are similar to that of the deadly COVID-19.


According to Bishnu Budha, a local of Karelikanda, who had come to Manish Medical Hall for treatment, the infection spread after a woman in her 30's came to the village from Kathmandu recently.

“After the woman came to the village, her family also suffered from fever and common cold. Then the whole village got infected,” Budha said, adding that entire village is in fear after the incident.


The locals say that the villagers have shown symptoms like headache, common cold and fever. As they [villagers] have shown coronavirus-like symptoms, the whole village is in fear.


According to Pratibhakta Giri, chief administrative officer at Tripura Sundari Municipality, a medical team has been sent to treat the villagers who are suffering from “common cold and fever”. 


“It is not yet clear about the disease. The reports will make things clear,” Giri said.


In the meantime, Jun Kumari Bohora, health coordinator of the municipality, said that the villagers should not be worried as the disease might have spread due to change in weather.
