KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Senior Orthopedic Surgeon at Tribhuvan University, Teaching Hospital (TUTH) Maharajgunj, Prof Dr Govinda KC has warned of another protest Monday.

Dr KC, issuing a press statement Monday, has warned of another protest putting forth four-point demand regarding the reforms of the medical sector. He will start his protest from October 6.

The demands raised by him were an immediate endorsement of Medical Education Act by including the recommendations contained in the Mathema report, fixing the fees for MBBS students of Kathmandu University and suspending the top office-bearers of TU.

Similarly, he has demanded a probe into the embezzlement made by recently suspended Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) executive chief Gopal Khadka, forwarding the process to open medical institutions in various parts of the country and the immediate start of classes at the Karnali Academy of Health Science.

Meanwhile, Nepal Medical Association has objected to the Cabinet’s direction to the Health Ministry to prepare the bill having the provision of doctors themselves providing compensation to the victims in case of death or any problem resulting from their negligence.

A statement by acting general secretary of the association has urged the government to withdraw the decision. RSS
