KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The government has said that there was no dispute over the issue of declaring the date for elections by Election Commission.
The government made such remark in today's meeting of the State Affairs Committee under the Legislature-Parliament on Bill to Amend and Integrate Laws, Duties and Powers of Election Commission.
On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said that the government has thought for giving responsibility to the EC for declaring the elections date.
Expressing commitment that the government would provide maximum support to the EC for making it capable, DPM Nidhi said that voters' awareness campaign would get continuous support from the government.
He said the advice received from lawmakers on the bill would be incorporated.
The lawmakers suggested to incorporate guarantee of 33 per cent women participation in all activities of the EC in the bill.
Demanding the rights to EC for declaring the date for elections, EC Commissioner Ila Sharma said that other all countries of the South Asia have been practicing this.
Sharma said a provision of giving rights to EC to declare the date for elections should be incorporated in the bill. RSS
