BIRATNAGAR, April 1: The Central Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the district statistics offices (DSO) has started economic census in all 77 districts of the country for the first time with an aim of studying the actual economic status of the nation.
According to DSO, Morang, preparations are underway for the census which will be conducted from April 13 to mid-June. As this kind of census is being collected for the first time, DSO is currently busy selecting surveyors. Altogether 138 surveyors will be deployed in 17 local units of Morang, informed Buddhi Poudel of DSO. According to him, the census will collect data on industries, businesses, banks and financial institutions, co-operatives, yearly expenditures, employment rate among others.

According to the DSO, training will be provided to the surveyors from April 4 to 8. As the country has already entered a federal structure, the economic census is expected to help study the economic status of the newly formed metropolitan cities, sub-metropolitan cities, municipalities and rural municipalities.
Details will be collected from the district level authorities and then sent to the CBS. Though the details will be collected by district authorities, analysis will be made by the central department. CBS is planning to study and publicize the details of the overall economic condition of the country for public awareness.
