BHAKTAPUR, March 22: A team from the Metropolitan Police Range Bhaktapur on Tuesday arrested eight persons from the New Unique Restaurant for gambling. The restaurant is run by Prem Krishna Shrestha of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2.
Shrestha is among those arrested. Police apprehended them while they were gambling. Police confiscated Rs 67, 240 in cash from them and has forwarded them for action.
Similarly, the Metropolitan Police Circle, Bhaktapur held five persons along with various banned drugs.
12 arrested for gambling
Those arrested include 30-year-old Laxmi Shrestha (Anita) of Bode, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, 22-year-old Laxman Karmacharya of Bhaktapur Municipality-3, 23-year-old Narayan Uprety of Lisikhu-9, Sindhupalchok and currently staying in Madhyapur Thimi Bode, 22-year-old Niroj Karmacharya of Madhyapur Thimi Bode-2 and 24-year-old Rakesh Maharjan of Madhyapur Thimi Bode-5, police stated.
It is stated that Laxmi was arrested six years back for the same offence. She trafficked in the banned drugs from Birgunj and sold it to Laxman Karmacharya. Police said further investigation is underway in this connection. RSS
