KATHMANDU, June 13: Rasuwa Port Management has tried to launch a new system at Rasuwagadhi, an international trade gateway with China. The committee formed by forging government documents has started the process of loading goods using a crane.

For this, a frame has been constructed to load goods from China. Sonam Wangdi Lama, director of Silk Transport, said that the frame can not be used again after its first use. "We have heard that the construction of frames for loading materials began last month," he said. "If this process is implemented, the checkpoint will be closed." A total of RMB 8,990 should be paid for one time use.

The committee has sent a letter to China's Kerung Port Management Committee stating that it is necessary to bring the system into operation. This benefits the Chinese side and is also safe. However, Lama said that Nepali businessmen would have to withdraw from the business if this system is implemented.

The committee was formed by forging the stamp and letterpad of Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2. Ward Chairman Dawa Dorje Tamang said that no one was given permission for the management of the checkpoint. "We have not given permission to anyone for the management of the checkpoint," he said. “We have come to know that the committee was formed by faking our ward’s stamp.”

Chief Customs Officer of Rasuwa Customs Point, Ram Prasad Regmi said that investigation has begun after receiving information that a fake committee was formed by Nepalis that even sent a letter to the Chinese side. "We have sent a letter to the Chinese side asking not to recognize the committee as it is not official," he said. "The fake committee is being investigated and the ministry along with the Department of Customs has also been informed."
