MORANG, March 3: A man died and his son was injured in a road accident at Kisti Bridge located in Sundarharaincha Municipality-10 of Morang under the East-West Highway.
Morang Traffic Police Chief Inspector Rajkumar Karki said that around 12:00 noon on Thursday, the bus (ME 1 KHA 2283) traveling from west to east hit the motorcycle (PRA 1-02-043 PA 3243) coming from the opposite direction.
Three dead, eight hurt in separate accidents
Police Inspector Karki said that 65-year-old Umakant Koirala of Sunderhaincha-6, who was riding pillion, was killed in the collision.
Thamprasad Koirala, 35, the motorcycle rider, sustained an injury on his nose. Both the rider and pillion rider were injured in the collision with the bus and were admitted to Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. According to the traffic police, the father Umakant died at 1:30 AM on Friday morning while his son Nabin is undergoing treatment. Police said that after the accident, the bus driver Nar Bahadur Magar, 49, of Laxmimarg, Belbari Municipality-11, was detained by the Belbari Area Police Office and an investigation into the incident has started.
