SUDURPASCHIM, August 3: Fear is looming large among the villagers after a tiger pounced and killed 11 goats in Mohoanyal Rural Municipality-7, Kuine village in Kailali's Chure mountainous area on Monday evening.
Villagers are scared after the jungle cat attacked grazing goats in Kalika Community Forest nearby the village, according to Vice-Chairman Kamal Bahadur Saud, who is also the resident of the same ward.
"The rural municipality administration has urged local residents to stay alert and avoid visiting the forest alone. This came after the tiger with two babies killed goats in the forest," said Saud.
Tiger kills 21 goats, injures a local
Saud further said that the rural municipality is making necessary preparations to provide relief to the victim farmers. After the incident, villagers are terrified of tiger rampage in their settlement anytime.
According to the District Police Office, Kailali, the tiger pounced upon and killed six castrated goats and four goats of Dharmaraj Mijar, a local; four castrated goats and four goats of Nabin Baduwal; two castrated goats of Pahila Bitala and a goat of Sabitra Baduwal.
Yogendra Chand, a local, said a wild cat had eaten three goats of a local resident in and around the Andaiya area of Kailali a week ago.
In recent years, the population of wildlife including tigers has increased in the forest area.
