KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Finance Minister Janardan Sharma and British Ambassador to Nepal, Nicola Pollitt, have discussed issues including climate change.
In a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, bilateral interests as well as the impact of climate change on Nepal were discussed. They also discussed the loss of life and property caused by the recent incessant rains, floods and landslides in different parts of the country including the farwest.
Insurance solutions underlined for disaster protection
Similarly, positive talks were held regarding the assistance required for rehabilitation, compensation and construction of damaged infrastructure. Minister Sharma even drew the attention of the international development partners toward this.
The meeting also discussed the need for an effective policy arrangement to ensure that countries like Nepal affected by climate change are compensated at the UN Conference on Climate Change 2021, according to the ministry.
