POKHARA, Nov 22: Five shops have been damaged in a fire that broke out in the tourist city of Pokhara this morning. The fire started from a shop at Foot track on the bank of Fewa Lake in the morning and burnt down five adjoining shops.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Chinimaya Tamang at Area Police Office, Baidam, the fire has damaged restaurants, snack shops and juice centers.
Fire guts property over Rs 3 million
Police said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained and further investigation is underway. Police and Nepal Army personnel with the help of locals and fire brigade brought the fire under control.
DSP Tamang said that the damage caused by the fire has been estimated at around Rs 105 million in the preliminary investigation. “We are investigating if the fire was caused by an electric short circuit or other reasons,” he said.
