Fishery policy to be activated soon, says Agriculture Minister

KATHMANDU, Nov 28: Minister for Agricultural Development, Gauri Shankar Chaudhari has expressed the government's determination to activate the Fishery Policy that has been shelved for long time. 



The Minister said this while addressing the concluding program of the Third Fish Festival organized by Nepal Fishery Entrepreneurs Association held at the local Bhrikutimandap from November 24. 



The Fish Festival featured various dishes prepared from fresh fish. There were 47 stalls in the festival. The organisers said the total transaction in the festival was over Rs 10 million. 



It is said fishery is done in 9,934 hectares of water bodies as of mid-July of the current fiscal year 2016/2017. Thirty-five thousand people are involved in the fisheries sector. RSS
