Foreign minister visiting India Sunday

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat is visiting India for three days from September 11 on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat is visiting India for three days from September 11 on the invitation of his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj.



The minister is leaving for the three-day trip just ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is scheduled to embark on an India visit starting September 15.



“The minister's visit just ahead of the one by the prime minister is aimed at playing important role in further strengthening bilateral relation between the two countries,” read a statement issued by the ministry of foreign affairs.



This is the second ministerial-level visit from Nepal to India after the formation of the Dahal-headed government.



Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi visited India as an special envoy of the government.



He met India's President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister for External Affairs Swaraj and other top officials.
