POKHARA, Oct 9: Prithvi Subba Gurung, chief minister of Gandaki Province, on Monday stated that lack of policies and work plan as well as labor crunch have made it challenging for the province to spend the budget.
Speaking at a program organized by the National Planning Commission (NPC) and Gandaki Province on Monday, Chief Minister Gurung admitted that the province has not been able to run any big development projects in its seven months in power.

He urged the central government to create a favorable environment for the province to attain the millennium development goals.
A province-level workshop has begun in Pokhara from Monday in order to formulate a single policy for the central, provincial and local governments for achieving the millennium development goals. Laxman Aryal of the NPC informed that a complete plan would be formed now, as there is no long-term solution for development.
Assuring that the upcoming plans and projects will not be like the ones in the past, he said uplifting the living standard of the common people and maintaining quality would be the priority of the upcoming projects. As the millennium development goals were introduced in Nepal in 2013, the co-operation of all three tiers of government is essential to achieve them within 2030.
