KATHMANDU, Oct 18: With one more COVID-19 related death of a Nepali national recorded in Israel last week, the number of Nepali nationals dying of COVID-19 outside of Nepal has reached 1,010.
According to the latest data from the Non- Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), as many as 283 Nepali people in 19 different foreign countries have succumbed to COVID-19 in the past nine months.
Global coronavirus deaths top half a million
As per the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll stands at 727 as of Saturday.
New cases of COVID-19 were witnessed last week among Nepali nationals in India, Qatar, Japan, South Korea and Cyprus. So far, 42,100 Nepali people in some 42 foreign countries have contracted the COVID-19. Meanwhile, 38,646 COVID-19 patients have recovered and returned home which accounts for 91 percent of total cases.
As of Saturday, Nepal has recorded 129,304 cases of COVID-19 including 89,840 recoveries.
