KATHMANDU, August 13: The government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 each in compensation to the families of those killed in the recent floods and landslides.

KATHMANDU, August 13: The government has decided to provide Rs 200,000 each in compensation to the families of those killed in the recent floods and landslides.


An emergency cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening took the decision.

According to Minister for Commerce, Meen Bishwakarma, the meeting decided to mobilize all state machineries to rehabilitate all those affected by the floods and relocate them to safer locations within two days. 


Minister Bishwakarma said the meeting also decided to provide daily essentials including food, temporary shelter, and clothes to the flood and landslide victims. "The meeting has also decided to provide appropriate compensation to the victims after a detailed study," he said.
