BHAKTAPUR, Feb 16: CPN-UML leader and former Tourism Minister Ananda Prasad Pokharel has said that the government has not been able to declare the date of elections for the fear of it.

Speaking at an interaction organized at the Rafat Media Club here on Wednesday, he said the government does not want to go to elections due to the popularity of the UML. Pokharel said, "The government is making many excuses to not hold elections, creating an obstacle of amending the constitution rather than implementing it."

Failure to hold elections would encourage the radical forces, stop the constitution from being implemented and push the country towards a failed state, he warned. Pokharel also emphasized on holding elections as per schedule and implementing the local level restructuring commission.

He also made it clear that the constitution amendment proposal registered in the parliament will not be allowed to be passed at any cost. RSS
