Govt recommends Thapa as Chief of Army Staff

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today has recommended the Acting Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa as the Chief of Army Staff.

KATHMANDU, Aug 19: A meeting of the Council of Ministers held today has recommended the Acting Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa as the Chief of Army Staff. 


According to government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information  Technology Gokul Prasad Banskota, the cabinet meeting held at Singh Durbar took a decision to this effect.

Now the President, with the reference of the Constitution of Nepal, article 267 (5), will appoint Thapa to the post.


The government on July 27 had recommended Lt. Gen. Purna Chandra Thapa as the Acting Chief of Army Staff.
