BHOJPUR, Feb 2: With the objective of benefiting the poor, underprivileged, marginalized and homeless people, the government has announced to build 50 houses in Bhojpur district under the Public Residency Program (PRP).

Altogether seven underdeveloped wards from three local units have been chosen for the program. As the number of houses recommended for construction this year is not enough, a meeting of the District Public Residency Coordination Committee (DPRCC) has taken efforts to build 50 more houses. The program details with the list of 50 more houses have been submitted to the Urban Development and Building Construction Department Division (UDBCDD), Dhankuta, which will later be transferred to the responsible authority, according to the officials of DPRCC.
The places with dense settlements of Dalits and marginalized communities have been given priority by DPRCC. The families who have been listed as victims will receive Rs 3,500,000 for the construction of their houses, said Rajendra Khatiwada, chief of UDBCDD, Dhankuta. In order to facilitate the poor people, the government had introduced PRP in 2010/11. Though this program was stalled for few years, it finally picked up pace last year by starting its services in three districts of tarai.
This fiscal year, the government has targeted to build 25,000 houses in 72 districts of the country excluding the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley.
