KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The first general assembly of the Tribhuvan University Alumni Association (TUAA) held on Saturday unanimously elected Sunita Shrestha Hada as the president of the alumni.
Professor Sudarshan Raj Tiwari has been elected as the vice-chairman while Professor Ridish Kumar Pokhrel got the responsibility of general secretary in the newly established body.
Likewise, Arjun Kanta Mainali was elected as the secretary and Professor Kushmila Acharya was elected as the treasurer of the association.

Hada will lead a 27-member working committee elected by the assembly for a tenure of four years.
Inaugurating the general assembly, vice-chancellor of TU and patron of the TUAA, Professor Tirtha Raj Khaniya, said that it is a matter of pride for the alumni to be associated with their alma mater.
“The alumni play an important role in the national and international levels,” he said, adding, “The alumni should help to develop all the aspects of the university.”
He claimed that the establishment of the alumni is a milestone for the university.
“The alumni played a vital role for TU to get enlisted among the top 1,000 universities in the world,” he said.
Similarly, TU Registrar Dilli Ram Upreti said that the alumni will help to make TU an excellent educational center although it is just in its starting phase.
